My Digital Background

My digital background would have been considered quite extensive if you were to ask ten or possibly even five years ago. But since you are asking today, I would have to say that I am not as integrated and sophisticated in technology as a could or should be. When I visited my classroom that I will be interning in next year, the teacher was using a Smartboard while talking in a personal microphone that hung around her neck as all the students had speakers over their groups of desks. Each classroom had several computers, an ELMO, and a projector. I am not to a point of where I know how to use most of these things effectively. I hope that throughout this class I am able to become better equipped with using these materials successfully in a classroom. I would love to be able to show my students how to use some of these things so they are also learning right along with me.

I think that I am proficient in some of the things that I grew up using such as Microsoft Word and Powerpoint. I, however, do think that there are more things that I could learn about these that would be beneficial for me. I would like to gain more experience using excel and using Google documents because I tend to see more and more people using this and I have no clue what it is or how to use it.

As the world moves towards become completely "digitalized," I think it is so important to grasp the changes and learn about it to the best of my ability. Especially as teachers, we know how to use these things in our classroom so we are able to give our students the best experience available.
